About the Principal

Mr. Lyon received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Pennsylvania State University in 1967 and his license to practice architecture in California in 1974 (C-8537).   He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and his experience  encompasses all phases of architecture and project/construction management, successfully serving a wide range of clients including school districts, public agencies, health-care providers and private owners.

Jeff began his professional career as a Construction Manager.  Specializing in critical path scheduling and project budgeting, he coordinated architects and contractors on numerous projects for the U.S. General Services Administration.  These included the U.S. Border Stations in San Ysidro and Calexico, CA., and Federal Office Buildings in Chicago and Midland, Texas.  In the health-care field, he managed construction projects for the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, CA,  and the Medical Center of the Mariannas, Guam, among others.

Construction management projects at City of Hope Medical Center led to numerous architectural commissions with that institution.  These included research buildings, patient care facilities, and development of a 20 year master plan which has since been largely implemented.

Jeff”s school experience began in 1990 with projects at Fallbrook, Murrieta, San Marcos and Temecula School Districts.  In 1996, he teamed with the Glendale-based firm of Leidenfrost/Horowitz, becoming a Principal Architect with the company and managing the firm’s work in San Diego and Riverside Counties.  In this capacity he coordinated architects and engineers for new schools and modernizing projects, as well as providing on-site construction administration services.  Facilities included high schools, middle schools and elementary schools.

Throughout his long career, Jeff has maintained a keen enjoyment for private residential work.  Besides designing houses for many clients, he has personally renovated several of his own homes and has been certified as a residential inspector by the International Council of Building Officials and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors.
